Gaya is werkzaam als European Trademark Attorney in de sectie Intellectueel Eigendom en Media. In de eindfase van haar rechtenstudie aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, heeft zij aan het IVIR instituut diverse IE-specialisatievakken gevolgd. Vervolgens heeft zij de postdoctorale opleiding tot BMM merken- en modellengemachtigde gevolgd en behaalde in 2002 haar BMM-diploma.
Gaya heeft meer dan twintig jaar ervaring en is verantwoordelijk voor de merken- en modellenregistratiepraktijk van Kennedy Van der Laan die onderzoek, registratie, bewaking en instandhouding in de Benelux, de EU en daarbuiten verzorgt . In samenwerking met de IE advocaten is Gaya betrokken bij oppositie- en doorhalingprocedures.
Gaya is lid van de Benelux vereniging voor Merken- en Modellenrecht (BMM) en de International Trademark Association (INTA).
