Gaya works as a Benelux & European Trademark and Design Attorney in the Intellectual Property and Media section.
In the final phase of her law studies at the University of Amsterdam, she followed various IP specialisation courses at the IVIR Institute. After graduating she followed the postgraduate course to become a BMM trademark attorney and obtained her BMM-degree in 2002.
Gaya also successfully participated in the 2020-2021 edition of EUIPO Trade Mark and Design Education Program (ETDM EP).
Gaya has more than twenty years of experience and is responsible for the trademark and design registration practice of Kennedy Van der Laan, who conducts research, registration, watch services and maintenance in the Benelux, the EU and beyond. In collaboration with the IP lawyers, Gaya is involved in opposition and cancellation proceedings.
Gaya is a member of the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law (BMM), the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).
Gaya is a committee member of BMM's Bureau Consultation Committee (BOC) and in that capacity regularly consults with the Benelux IP Office (BOIP) and the European Union IP Office (EUIPO) on further improvement and harmonisation of Intellectual Property (IP) law in Europe.
