Hierdoor heeft hij veel kennis en ervaring op het gebied van online business (platforms en e-commerce), het beschermen en exploiteren van technologie en (online) auteursrecht. Joran adviseert ook over toezicht en regulering op deze gebieden en is lid van het cyber security team.
Recent procedeerde Joran over bewijsbeslag en informatie-inzage in IE-procedures, stond hij ISPs en platformen bij in zaken over gebruikersinformatie en is hij betrokken bij de de Pirate Bay-zaken over internetfilters. Verder assisteerde Joran cliënten bij technologietransacties en -samenwerkingen en trad hij op tegen inbreuk op octrooien en know-how.
Joran Spauwen is afgestudeerd aan de Universiteit Utrecht en hij heeft zich hierna bij de Universiteit van Amsterdam en de George Washington University (in München) gespecialiseerd in intellectueel eigendoms-, media- en IT-recht. Voordat Joran begon als advocaat was hij softwareontwikkelaar bij een informatiseringsbedrijf, waarbij hij jarenlange ervaring heeft opgedaan in de IT-sector.
Joran is lid van de Licensing Executives Society (LES), Vereniging voor Media- en Communicatierecht (VMC) en de Vereniging voor Auteursrecht (VVA).
