Our Real Estate & Construction practice covers all civil-law aspects of real estate law from due diligence and the acquisition of property, through to (re)development and construction, to property management and leasing as well as the disposal of property.

We have a broad experience in advising on (direct and indirect) property transactions, project development, renovation and property improvement programs, zoning and planning, construction law, public procurement law and tenancy law. In addition, we advise on all kind of related litigation and arbitration matters including technical expert proceedings and industrial accidents and fires.
Amongst our clients are property developers, contractors, architects, investors (both private and institutional), owners and occupiers, and government bodies. Furthermore, our practice has a particularly strong track record in the hospitality sector and the fashion & retail industry.

Kennedy Van der Laan has a track record in the construction sector, including expertise with architecture, real estate, and procurement law and increasingly large commercial projects. Richard Jan Roks and Nico Jacobs co-head the team; Roks has a strong healthcare client roster and Jacobs has a focus on the leisure industry; he advised Wenzhou Tongyong Locks on the purchase agreement and construction matters in respect of the proposed Olympic Hotel in Amsterdam. The team also advised the Port of Amsterdam on solar matters including the procurement procedure and construction contracts in respect of the installation of rooftop solar panels.
