Simon obtained his bachelor's degree at Utrecht Law College. He then completed the masters 'Business and Law' (cum laude) and 'Intellectual Property Law, Innovation and Technology' (cum laude) at Utrecht University. In addition to his work, he is an editorial member of the documentation section of the magazine Mediaforum and regularly writes contributions for the Media Report weblog.
