Simone Schmeetz joined Kennedy Van der Laan as Counsel this month. She has over 15 years of experience as an employment lawyer, including at Loyens & Loeff and Clifford Chance LLP. In recent years she has freelanced as an interim attorney at various law firms, including Houthoff and CMS.
Simone has extensive experience in collective employment law, including advising on the employment-law consequences of mergers and acquisitions, (cross-border) reorganisations and restructurings, and negotiating with works councils and trade unions. She also advises on other strategic employment-law issues that are at the interface with corporate law, such as the position of statutory directors.
In her role as Counsel, Simone will contribute to the further growth and ambition of Kennedy van der Laan's employment law team and will serve the firm’s international and national clients. Chris Nekeman, Head of the Employment and Employee Participation Law Practice Group, says: "Given the size of the practice and the type of clients we advise, we’re pleased to add an extra Counsel to our team. Simone brings a lot of experience, especially when it comes to issues that combine employment law and corporate law. We as a team are proud and glad that Simone has joined us!"
Joost Linnemann, CEO of Kennedy Van der Laan, says: "Simone is a driven professional with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, who is a perfect fit with the independent character of our firm. She brings with her a wealth of experience. We are therefore delighted that Simone has chosen to join us."
