Sophie van Loon has been appointed partner Intellectual Property & Media at Kennedy Van der Laan, effective January 1, 2024. In her new role, Sophie will continue working on complex copyright cases.
Sophie has been practising as an attorney at Kennedy Van der Laan since 2008, and has extensive experience in advising media, most specifically online, platforms and clients in the audiovisual sector in the copyright field. She specialises in collective rights management and litigates in high-profile cases concerning copyright fees.
Sophie earned a PhD from Radboud University, focused on the relationship between Intellectual Property and Competition Law. She is editor of the journal ‘Autersrecht’ (copyright), and board member of the Vrije Wetenschappelijke Vereniging voor Auteursrecht (the copyright association).
