Kennedy Van der Laan has appointed Anita Nijboer as partner. Starting today, she joins the Administrative and Public Law practice group and the team of Real Estate and construction specialists within the office. Nijboer advises and litigates in the areas of general administrative law and environmental law, among others.
As a lawyer, Nijboer has been supporting a range of clients since 2003, including public bodies, project developers, hospitals, schools and housing corporations. In her practice, she focuses on complex regional development projects, the development of houses and office buildings, and issues relating to the environment and infrastructure. She regularly helps clients to obtain licences and dispensations quickly.
Smart City expert
Nijboer is an expert in the Smart City and legislation relating to smart city applications in public space. For example, she wrote the book 'Smart en leefbaar, belangen borgen in de digitaliserende gemeente' (Smart and liveable, defending interests in the increasingly digitalising municipality), published in 2018 and presented at the Smart City Expo in Barcelona. Nijboer: "Kennedy Van der Laan is a firm that has a great history and an impressive track record. Nijboer regularly gives courses in environmental law and is a guest lecturer at the training and study centre for the judiciary (SSR), the University of Amsterdam and the Academy of Legal Practice. Besides her book on the legal aspects of the Smart City, she has various other publications to her name and is co-author of the book 'Het recht van kabels en leidingen' (The law on cables and pipes).
Nijboer is a member of the Privacy Law Association and the Association of Environmental Lawyers. Prior to joining Kennedy Van der Laan, she was a partner in the Hague firm of Ekelmans & Meijer. She studied Dutch Law at the University of Amsterdam and followed management training at Nyenrode Business University.
