Itse Gerrits

Attorney at law

In 2005 Itse Gerrits graduated cum laude in law from the University of Amsterdam with a major in employment law. In 2006, he earned his bachelor of laws degree in English law at the University of Kent at Canterbury (UK) with an “overall merit”.

Before switching to Kennedy Van der Laan in January 2010, Itse worked as an attorney at a big law firm for three years, where he gained experience in employment law and financial transactions.

Itse advises and litigates across the full spectrum of employment law, from collective and individual redundancies to transfers of undertaking and equal treatment. In the past years he has done much litigating and advising on non-competition clauses. As a member of the German Desk he regularly advises about employment relationships at an international level. He publishes and lectures on a wide range of employment-law topics.

Besides employment law, Itse also specializes in civil servants law. The clients he represents particularly include judges, trainee judges and public prosecutors. Itse is also a member of the civil servants law team of Kennedy Van der Laan.

In 2015 Itse completed cum laude the post academic employment law course PALA (Postacademische Leergang Arbeidsrecht). He is a member of the Dutch Association of Employment Law Attorneys (VAAN), the Employment Law Association, the Association of Employment Law Attorneys Amsterdam, the International Bar Association (IBA) and the Civil Servants and Law Association.
