Profile
Jan is a financial regulatory partner. He is experienced in providing technical regulatory advice as well as handling transactions and contentious matters, often for clients with public sector interests. He has represented insurers and reinsurers, banks and investment firms, financial services providers as well as supervisory authorities.
In recent years, Jan has focused in particular on the insurance sector, advising domestic and international insurers, brokers and other financial services providers on the development and documentation of their services, financial products and distribution arrangements.
He also advises on licence requirements, governance matters, duties of care and on the ongoing prudential (Solvency, MiFID) and conduct (IDD) supervision of companies active in the insurance sector and the broader financial services industry.
Jan is a member of the Groningen Centre for European Financial Services Law and of the Amsterdam Centre for Insurance Studies (ACIS).
Jan also holds several non-executive board positions. He is chair of the supervisory board of Rijnbrink, vice chair of the board of CARE Netherlands and a member of the governance code committee for Dutch public housing associations.
