Art
The art of capturing the essence
Over 30 years ago, it was crystal clear to our founders. Things had to be different in the legal profession. As a constitution, they therefore chose: good, fun, commercial and social. Since then, our firm has grown rapidly, but those same values still bind us.
Art and Kennedy Van der Laan. From the very first day since its establishment, art has been an important, unifying part of our firm. Our art collection grows every year. Art to enjoy and occasionally reflect upon as a contrast to, and a source of inspiration for, everyday legal work.
Art connects
An art collection does not just consist of individual works, but is an ensemble of different works that reinforce each other. If you look at an art collection for longer, you will see that connections can be made between the works of art among them. New work, for instance, can shed a different light on an existing work and enrich the collection.
This is also how we are in everyday working life. We are individuals together who all look at things from a different perspective. Different areas of law under one roof that ensure that we at Kennedy Van der Laan can advise our clients in the broadest sense of the word.
Art and office culture
Ever since our inception, we have been doing things differently from all other firms: innovation is in our DNA. We are innovative both in the solutions we come up with for our clients and in the way we work. Art within our firm plays an important role in this, because it teaches us to look at things from a different perspective; it promotes creativity. Two qualities that are inextricably linked to innovativeness.
Enjoying art is learning to see. It requires you to open up as a viewer and leave preconceptions at home. This is an attitude that suits us. We have an eye for the people around us, and take our social responsibility. For us, art is an inspiring and autonomous part of office culture.
Art and our work
Art forces us to think critically. Just like the rapidly changing technology around us. It makes us constantly aware of our own actions. Through art, we can reflect on the transitions going on. Technology is the catalyst for transitions. Also within art. Young artists are constantly aware of new technologies and increasingly try to work with sustainable materials. We support this by offering them in particular a stage in our office.
We want to be a future-proof Kennedy Van der Laan. And the best way to ensure a bright future for our office is by making it ourselves.
We organise public viewings four times a year, with a new artist in the spotlight at each exhibition. We would like to invite you to our public viewings in order to see things from a different perspective.
